WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump visited the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery on Wednesday, emerging in public for the first time since his failed reelection bid to take part in the annual presidential rite.

Events are being held across the country today in honor of those who have served in the U.S. military. Veterans Day celebrations in Hilo will be especially meaningful in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak that claimed the lives of 27 residents at the Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. 

Honoring Hawai'i's World War I Veterans

A ceremony honoring veterans was conducted in Waikiki today, the site of Hawai’i’s first war memorial.  It was erected in 1924 to honor those who served and died in World War One which started 100 years ago. HPR’s Wayne Yoshioka reports.
