Tonight's outing feature's a very laidback offering of relatively new indie with a few eclectic throwbacks tossed in for good measure. We'll close out with a particularly strong track by Fiona Apple from her most recent album - with plenty of great music before that.

I wanted to start off today's show playing some new indie - but as you might expect, new music has been slow to trickle out in the past few months. So to fill out the back half we'll touch on some older eclectic tracks to round out the night. 

This week marks 8 freaky years of Bridging the Gap here on Hawaii Public Radio. so as the freshest host on the program I'll be playing some of my favorite tracks since joining the team. Yes, it's a best of show!

No real theme here  - just playing a bunch of newer tracks that capture a certain feeling of cool. Tons of indie, alternative and eclectic on display tonight.

It's pledge drive here at HPR, so I thought it would be a good opportunity to showcase some of my favorite selections from NPR's many music outlets. Tracks plucked from the Tiny Desk Series, All Songs Considered, Viking's Choice and other NPR music blogs will be on full display tonight.

School is back in session and August is rolling to a close, leaving the dog days of summer upon us. For me, the final days of summer evoke a feeling of sultry tension and moodiness - so I wanted to play some tracks to reflect those feelings. Tonight's show will feature some great acoustic tracks earlier on, moving to indie rock and soul in the second hour.

So Tonight on Bridging the Gap I wanted to do something of a deep dive on the Light in the Attic Record label. They specialize in previously unreleased or "lost" recordings from often forgotten artists. They also feature re-releases from cult musicians or more contemporary artists. Expect plenty of new, strange and eclectic sounds for this one.
