Setting the record straight matters to some people, like Honolulu newscaster Joe Moore.  Moore, a well-known Mozart aficionado, has been tracking the true story of Antonio Salieri, depicted as Mozart’s nemesis in a popular film about Mozart’s life.  In the process, Moore uncovered a treasure trove of music, now brought back to life in two special concerts featuring the Spring Wind Octet.  HPR’s Noe Tanigawa reports.

Tickets go on sale today for the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra’s Masterworks season.

  Many former youth symphony members remember the neighbor island tours they did with the Hawai‘i Youth Symphony, HYS.  An annual highlight, this year, the members of HYS’ top orchestra went to Kaua‘i  for a series of concerts.  HPR’s Noe Tanigawa accompanied them to the Garden Island for this report.

Celebrating their 40th Anniversary, the Honolulu Brass Quintet is charged with fresh energy.  New members, plus a growing repertoire and appreciation for brass ensembles is helping to fuel their endeavors.  HPR’s Noe Tanigawa discovered they plan to debut a new commissioned work at their celebration concert Monday.

The Honolulu Brass Quintet is celebrating its 40th Anniversary with a concert flaunts the best in brass capabilities.

  Hawai‘i Youth Symphony has been bringing music into the lives of students from every socioeconomic group in Hawai‘i for fifty years.   As part of its anniversary celebration, HYS is inviting everyone to a free Spring Concert at the NBC concert Hall this Sunday.  HPR’s Noe Tanigawa reports.

This Sunday, 4pm, Hawai‘i Youth Symphony’s most advanced orchestra performs a free concert at the NBC Concert Hall.   Get your tickets at the NBC Box office.

Today the Hawai’i Symphony Orchestra is announcing its Masterworks Concert Series for this spring, with a mix of classic treasures,  favorite artists, and a blend of East and West.  HPR’s Noe Tanigawa reports.
