Bike sharing has grown as a business — not only here in Hawai‘i, but also in many cities around the world. But one of the largest bike sharing companies in the world is facing new problems this week in Asia.
For a little more than a year, Honolulu has had a bike sharing program on the streets. A similar program has been on the Big Island for even longer. But in parts of Asia, it’s a business that’s going through a lot of changes.
Organizers of a plan to create a bike-sharing network in Honolulu have identified four possible vendors and are looking to select one by late fall. As HPR’s Molly Solomon reports, they’re now turning to the public for feedback.
