Oʻahu motorists should expect traffic delays Sunday morning heading west from Hawaiʻi Kai to Waiʻanae.
Supporters of the protests against building of the Thirty Meter Telescope are organizing a cross-island convoy. Organizers expect several hundred motorists.
Honolulu police officers will escort the motorcade from Maunalua beginning at 9 a.m. traveling to Māʻili by around noon.
They will start out on Kalanianaole Highway, then travel on the H-1 Freeway and Farrington Highway. On-ramps to the H-1 will be closed while the convoy is underway.
Convoy organizers are asking participants to arrive at Maunalua Bay by 8 a.m. for a briefing on the event’s kapu aloha or nonviolence code of conduct.
