Hawaii Proud Boys Leader Arrested In Connection With Capitol Riot

Jan 8, 2021

One of the men identified as taking part in Wednesday’s armed riot at the U.S. Capitol has been arrested in Hawaii.

Nicholas Ochs was apprehended by federal authorities in Hawaii after a warrant for his arrest was issued by a federal judge in Washington DC.

Ochs is the leader of the far right Hawaii Proud Boys group and unsuccessfully ran for a seat in the State House of Representatives in 2020.

An indictment unsealed by the DC District Court reveals the FBI requested the arrest warrant on Thursday.

The court documents cite tweets from Ochs’ personal Twitter account and an interview he did with CNN as evidence placing him at the Capitol during the riot.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Hawaii did not immediately respond to a request for comment, but the indictment indicates that Ochs was arrested shortly after the warrant was approved.

He is scheduled to appear in federal court in Honolulu by Monday.
