29% of Hawaii’s renewable energy now comes from wind power. A California company is moving forward with a plan to build more than a dozen turbines. It’s a deal that could save the state millions and significantly lower electricity bills. But it’s causing concern among some residents. HPR’s Molly Solomon reports.
It’s a business deal that will change the face of business in the state. Florida-based NextEra Energy is buying Hawaiian Electric Industries in a $4.3 billion deal. As part of the agreement, American Savings Bank would become a separate publicly-traded company. HPR’s Bill Dorman has more.
