Sandee Oshiro joined Hawai’i Public Radio as news editor in February 2019. She was born in Honolulu and graduated from Farrington High School, the University of Hawai’i and Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism. She has served as managing editor for digital at The Honolulu Advertiser, regional editor for AOL’s Patch network of local websites, interim editor of The Poynter Institute website, and senior editor at KPCC, Southern California Public Radio. An award-winning journalist herself, she has managed reporting teams recognized for their coverage and investigations in areas that include politics, education, immigration, and transportation.
